Too Many Words
With my mother, I know she lies and she’s immature, but I can forgive her because it’s not her fault. I look at her like she has a big bandaid on her head because I know that whatever she does wrong, it’s because she has Borderline Personality Disorder. You know, what’s everyone else’s excuse for being assholes?

Introductions
I have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder just to name a few things. So those are some daily struggles that I deal with as the rear their ugly heads. Mental Illness is not a choice in life we make its a choice how we handle it..

After Rehab
Soon after my return, I got diagnosed BPD, i.e. Borderline Personality Disorder, which caused me to fluctuate for a good one and a half week between going mad, and going insane. Having learned quite something in the Clinic, I decided not to sit around feeling sorry for myself, and to take it out on work.

Self Diagnosis
When a patient tells me that they have probable borderline personality disorder with anti-social tendencies, I am not certain whether I am to thank them for saving me the trouble of determining this for myself or fearing for their rage when they steal my wallet and then blame me.

Reading Up
It’s been at least eight years that I’ve lived with the diagnosis of borderline personality disorder. It is such a stupid sounding thing. Although I go long periods without reading a single thing about it, the information doesn’t change much. There are no drastic advances in the treatment and tolerance of bpd. It is the same stuff.

Intergalactic Beef
Yes, I’m so young and so bitter. And angry. And aggressive. And potentially suffering from borderline personality disorder. Oh, I forgot sensitive and emotional. And stupid when it comes to competitive sports. For example, the one you’re so coyly playing right now. I’m sorry, I never really excelled in sports. Also, I never saw the point in competing for anything.

Family Therapy
The child remained in foster care, and the couple dutifully appeared in front of a variety of psychiatrists and other "experts" who all gathered a variety of opinions on if there was a mental health problem at all, and if there was, what was it. A loose "diagnisos" of possible Borderline Personality Disorder at a sub threashold level was given and a lot of theoretical and hypothetical scenarios and prognoses were offered before a overwhelmed and baffled 18 year old as a barrier to getting her child back, and also a threat to the child in her womb being able to stay in her care after the birth.

Girls, Uninterrupted
We got so involved in discussing the issues surrounding depression and counselling that we ran out of time to mention the movie or book which inspired the title of our theme. Most people would have heard of the film, Girl, Interrupted, starring Winona Rider and Angelina Jolie. It is based on a book with the same title, the true story of Susanna Kaysen. The protagonist in the film is diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.

Borderline Blog
It was all this turmoil that made me recall borderline teacher, a blog about, well, a borderline teacher. It’s interesting stuff provided you’re interested in reading about a complete stranger’s issues. (But hey, if you weren’t you wouldn’t be here, right?) The lady behind it is a 28 year old French teacher living in a therapeutic community. She suffers from borderline personality disorder and self harms. It can tend towards the overemotional at times and there’s plenty of hugging and touchy-feely stuff from the folks who post comments but I’m hardly in a position to judge. Like I said, it’s an interesting read and this bit

Prayer Request
Our other friend, Hugo, is a pure angel of a man. He is going through a very disturbing divorce. His ex-wife has been diagnosed with Borderline personality disorder. She has tried to commit suicide and has even gotten arrested for her baligerent behavior towards Hugo. He is at his wits end. They have a 7 year old son too that will suffer from this experience. Please pray for Hugo, his wife and son. Pray that she can find strength in God to overcome her mental illness so that she can be strong for her son during this divorce. Pray that Hugo will have the strength to do what is best for his son also. They are truely good people going through a very stressful time.

Same Treatment, Same Outcome
Read the whole post."Diagnosed with depression and borderline personality disorder" - That's a hell of a diagnosis. Co-morbidity is common among the mentally ill but borderline personality disorder is about as bad as it gets without actually moving into the psychotic disorders. BPD can produce psychotic episodes but is not characterized by them. This needed treatment, lots of it. No one with a mental illness can pull themselves up by their boot straps and both of these disorders can lead to very destructive behaviour. Many of the behaviours of the mentally ill are those they learned to use to cope with in disordered environments. As bad as the disease is, the stigma attached to it can be worse. So either you are deliberately and stupidly eccentric or you are a nut case. Pick one! Live with that! The behaviour of people towards the mentally ill is often what starts the downward spiral, thus the stigma increases the likelihood of the disorder becoming worse.

Friend's Trouble
Click through for the rest of the trouble. To fully appreciate the trouble my friend is getting himself into, one must understand what his ex-girlfriend was like. I dont usually use pseudonyms (i dont have the imagination to invent witty pseudonyms that acccurately describe the individual) but i think for this case i should. I will call my friend.... Bob, and his ex-girlfriend will be, umm, Jane, and his new girlfriend will be Kimmie (this is her real name, but she spells it really weird, it has like 5 "I's" and a "W" in their somewhere). Anyway Bob and Jane started dating in 2001, 3 weeks after they started dating Jane moved in with Bob, much to the chagrin of his roommate and close friend... Steve (yes, Steve will do). Anyway, soon after Jane moved in she forced Bob to kick Steve out of the house and severe all ties with him.

Adult Supervision
Last night we talked about Borderline Personality Disorder and Sally. I told My Personal Expert that I felt bad about Sally firing me as her case manager so fast, and to my surprise MPE thought that was a good thing. "It just means you didn't hesitate to draw boundaries," she said, "and that's what you've got to do." Then she said that it is helpful to think of people with BPD as being four-years-old. Think of how you have to deal with a four-year-old and you will be on the right track.

Across the Borderline
Today I met with my difficult client, a young woman whose only diagnosis is Borderline Personality Disorder. Look it up. Borderlines are the clients who make therapists roll their eyes and shiver. In sum, they have no existence unless someone is paying attention to them, so they demand an extraordinary amount of time and focus, requiring the therapist or anyone else who deals with them to be strongly vigilant about boundaries.

A Night in the Dog House
When I was 8 my mother got a wild hair up her ass and decided we should move to West Virginia and raise horses. My mother was a severe manic depressive psychotic with borderline personality disorder and a fat bank account which is an explosively bad combination. Practically every week we were doing something different. My stepfather (my real father died) was even more of a psychotic with symptoms of a homicidal maniac with schizoid tendencies so he was on board and excited by the idea. They bought a huge property outside of Charleston sight unseen...

Coping But Down
It made me think of one of my psychiatrists, he told me that some of my symptoms could be construed as being borderline personality disorder, but he didn't think so. And I thought, well why tell me? Every time I have gone to A&E in a depressed crisis, my undoing has been the fact that I can hold an intelligent conversation. Simply because i'm not bouncing off the walls, no one could take me seriously and it has been this dismissal time and time again that has left me with a very sour view of the mental health system. If it wasn't for my lovely...

Relating To Those With Those With Personality Disorders
Consequently, Dr. Stuart C. Yudofsky of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas estimated that another 15 to 30 percent of people have a close relationship with someone -- perhaps a co-worker, partner or family member -- who has antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, or some other personality disorder.
People with the histrionic type of personality disorder, a common condition, are impulsive and quickly form intense but shallow relationships. People with borderline personality disorder are typically unstable, exhibit wild mood swings, and have self-destructive behavior. Other personality disorders include narcissistic, paranoid, schizotypal, and addictive types.

Abstract: Predictors of Benzodiazepine Discontinuation in Subjects Manifesting Complicated Dependence
Subjects with lower benzodiazepine doses and no previous withdrawal attempts were more successful at benzodiazepine discontinuation. Cluster B personality/borderline personality disorder was associated with an inability to stop benzodiazepine use and with "dropping out" of treatment. Alcohol use-related disorders or other psychiatric diagnoses were not associated with outcome.
Further studies on predictors of successful benzodiazepine discontinuation in different populations are required. Patients manifesting cluster B personality/borderline personality disorder and benzodiazepine dependence may need concomitant treatment for their personality disorders to benefit from benzodiazepine discontinuation treatment.

Fatal Attraction, The Film
The feminists hated Fatal Attraction because the movie paints Alex as a "disturbed" woman who is psychotic at the end and is probably one of the best cinematic depictions of Borderline Personality Disorder ever made, and yet Dan is "psychotic" too when he jeopardizes his marriage, his family, maybe even his career on a weekend indiscretion. Perhaps Dan is too narcissistic and suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
